Maya Bailey is a litigation associate focusing on commercial litigation, with an emphasis on representation of financial institutions in federal and state court disputes throughout Texas. She assists clients with a broad range of financial and business-related matters and supports all phases of litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

Maya began her legal career in public service at the Office of the Texas Attorney General, where she gained a wide range of experience in litigation, multi-state administrative investigations, and appellate matters. Before joining H&W, Maya served as an associate at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, where she represented clients in commercial disputes, contract-related matters, and litigation risk analysis. Her practice has involved supporting clients in complex commercial matters through case development, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.

Known for her thoughtful approach and attention to detail, Maya works closely with clients and litigation teams to develop practical, results-oriented strategies tailored to each matter’s unique circumstances.

Maya is admitted to practice in all Texas state courts and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Texas. She is a member of the Houston Lawyers Association and the Southwest Association of Bank Counsel.

Outside of her legal practice, Maya is committed to serving the Houston community and volunteers with organizations that support individuals and families experiencing poverty.

Maya earned her Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where she served as an Associate Editor of the Journal on Gender, Race & Justice, participated in the Juvenile Lifers Without Parole Clinic, and served as a Writing Advisor for first-year law students. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance from Howard University where she joined Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.

Outside of the office, Maya enjoys traveling, exploring destinations off the beaten path, practicing yoga, and spending time with her dog.
