Over 105 years in Houston’s Business & Legal Community.

General Hirsch & Mark Westheimer

The seeds of our law firm were planted on August 13, 1913, when the Houston Daily Post announced that Maurice Hirsch planned to open a law office.

In 1927, when Mark Westheimer joined Maurice Hirsch as a partner, Hirsch & Westheimer took on the name by which we are recognized today. With the continuity of our practice since 1914, we stand today as a historical landmark in Houston’s business and legal community.

For much of the 20th Century, General Hirsch and Mr. Westheimer left their imprint upon the business and civic development of our great city of Houston which, through much of that period, had one of the most rapidly growing economies in America. Whether it was the Houston Symphony, the Boy Scouts, the United Way, The Museum of Fine Arts or the plethora of other community and civic organizations, they worked tirelessly to provide support to those groups. They built our law firm on the same principles that guided their personal lives: stability, hard work, service, professionalism and loyalty. Their example continues as our benchmark.

If our founders returned to the firm today they would notice that those same values remain at the core of our practice. Their culture of stability, hard work, service, professionalism and loyalty has now passed to a new generation of attorneys born years after General Hirsch and Mr. Westheimer prepared their last legal agreement. While they would hear many familiar names among the clients of the firm, they would also see that the firm has expanded its list of clients to now embrace clients not just from Houston but across the United States.

In their tradition of stability they would also witness that the attorneys at Hirsch & Westheimer are long term members of the firm despite the trend of the last decade for attorneys to move from firm to firm. That is a testament to the quality of life at our firm and the quality of the attorneys who practice here, many of whom are recognized leaders in areas ranging from real estate, to corporate transactions, to estate planning, to creditors’ rights and litigation.

We are ready to demonstrate how these ideals will positively affect the handling of your business and personal legal requirements.
